I've been tagged and other news

So Jamie tagged me a while about and I just kept forgetting. So it's about time I do this!

Here we go.

Here are the rules and my reply is just below. Tagging is easy. Just copy the following onto your post. The rules of the game are posted at the start of your blog post. In this case, I'm asking you 5 questions about running. Each player answers the 5 questions on their own blog. At the end of your post you tag 5 other people and post their names. Go to their blogs and leave a comment on their blogs telling them they've been tagged and to look at your blog for details. When they've answered the questions on their own blog, they come back to yours to tell you. Got that? Here goes.

1. How would you describe your running 10 years ago?

Ten years ago I was 11 years old, and my main source of running was on the playground during recess in grade school. I played basketball and softball too and got some running in through that, but I definitely wasn't running then like I'm running now.

2. What is your best and worst run/race experience?

The worst: Does getting hurt and having to scratch a race count because if so that might be my worst. If not I guess my other worst experience was running the Virginia Beach Half Marathon last year with strep throat and a fever. I don't recommend waking up at 4 a.m. popping antibiotics and some Advil and Sudafed and then running 13.1 miles. Although I felt not nearly as sick afterward...hmmm.

The best: Finishing the Baltimore marathon in 2006. It's the first and only full marathon I've ever run and it's just about the best feeling ever to cross that finish line.

3. Why do you run?

I run for a lot of reasons, all of them probably stemming a little bit from my insanity. I think mainly though I run for the challenge. It doesn't matter how many races I've done, I still get butterflies in my stomach the night before and I still have to go the bathroom like five million times before the gun goes off because of nerves. Every new run is a chance to improve something, to go a longer distance, to beat an old time, to just a fun. I think that's why I run.

4. What is the best or worst piece of advice you've been given about running?

Worst - Run faster (not always bad, but in this case it was)

Best - Stretch, listen to your body and actually rest on your rest days.

5. Tell us something surprising about yourself that not many people would know.

Last fall I took 3 day trips from Maryland to North Carolina, varying from 5 to 7 hours one way, to follow our soccer team to their away games. Yes, my friends and I have problems. (not sure I'd do the same thing now with gas prices as expensive as they are.)

I tag: Java, Teacherwoman, M*J*C, Denise and POM

I always have to pee a billion times before a race, too. My bladder just gets so excited.

And running with strep? That is hardcore.
